Hello dear friends and fellow entrepreneurs. Once again, i’d like to thank you for taking the time out to read my blogs here. I don’t claim to be an expert by all means, only passing along what I can that I have learned and works for me and others that I know. I began a series earlier about blog formatting and made it through 4 of the planned 13 and you may be wondering what happened to it. Don’t worry, it’s still in process, but I’m switching it over into the training section and if you’re following me, I’m assuming you’ll see in the notifications when I have it published and ready for viewing.
Today we’ll change gears a little and go into an area of mindset. Knowing all the tools of the trade is important, but what’s truly more important is inside you. In fact, I have a book I hope to have finished and released by late February dealing with just that.
What Is Your Character?
How successful you are has a lot to do about what you think of yourself. Who are you, really? How do you feel about yourself? What are your beliefs? What do you think about money? How do you relate to people? Do you trust others? What are your work ethics? Can you work when you don’t feel like it? Do you have confidence in yourself? Do you feel you can handle wealth and success or do you even want either?
Your character is going to have a lot to do with how successful you are. And to give yourself the best chance for success, you need to get this all in order. You need to first figure out what T. Harv Eker calls your “Money Blueprint”.
Mr. Eker says, “If you want to change the fruit, you will first have to change the roots. If you want to change the visible, you will first have to change the invisible.” If you’re not programmed for obtaining wealth and success, you have to reprogram. You can’t change the fruit that has already grown, but you can change tomorrow’s fruit. But, you have to dig deeper down and make the roots stronger.
Your money blueprint is simply your preset programming in relation with money. How is this formed? Over your lifetime, things are embedded in your subconscious. The way your parents handled money, or how they fought about the money. Maybe you never had money growing up and that’s programmed in your mind as the way it should be. You’ll actually feel guilty if you have too much money. You were taught how to act with money as you were growing up. This became a conditioning of your mind which became automatic as you grew older. And now it’s just an automatic reaction. Now’s the time for intervention and go in and reprogram those files for success.
I’m sure you’ve always wondered why folks that win the lottery generally lose it all in a year or two and are back to where they started. This is why. They were’nt programmed to handle wealth and so end up back to the point where they are most comfortable. Their money blueprint wasn’t drawn up for success.
What Is Your Money Blueprint?
So, what is your money blueprint? The easiest way to tell is look at your bank account. Look at your savings, at your investments. Does acquiring money come easy to you? Or do you live paycheck to paycheck. Or just can’t seem to get ahead or get that savings account going. Do you welcome success with open arms or do you fear success, not sure what you need to do to hold on to it? Once you figure out your money blueprint, then you can focus on changing it. If not, whatever it is, it will stay with you for the rest of your life.
How Do You Change Your Money Blueprint?
I can’t even begin to go into the process of any great depth. It would take a complete book to show you. In fact there is a great book called Secrets of the Millionaire Mind which is a wonderful resource for reprogramming your money blueprint by T. Harv Eker. However, I’ll touch on key points.
Your mind conditioning of how you act toward money is brought about three different ways through your early life. By verbal programming, modeling and specific incidents.
So verbally, what did you hear about rich people when you were growing up. Were they good, bad, snooty, gracious? My mom always quoted the verse, money is the root of all evil. My dad would refer to those with money as “filthy rich”. Of course, all of these are programming your mind against acquiring wealth. Essentially, to change this is to write down what all you heard growing up, write down how you think it has affected your financial success up to this point. You then need to disassociate by realizing these are thoughts that represent only what you’ve learned, but are not a part of who you really are and that you DO have a choice of how you can be different now. Then, believe you can be wealthy and successful.
Modeling. What do you remember about how your parents handled money? Were they spenders or savers? Did they manage or mismanage it? Invest or were they conservative? Did money make them happy or were they always arguing about money? You’ll be suprised what will be ingrained in your mind and you may have forgotten. Children will see and do and then it will stay with you through life. To help change, be aware of how your parents were with money and write down how you’re the same or different. Write down how this modeling has affected your financial life so far. Disassociate by realizing these are only things you learned and is not a part of you. Understand thay you have a choice to be different now. Then, believe you can be wealthy and successful.
Specific events. What did you experience when you were young around rich people? How did you perceive them? Or an incident in your family that may have affected you. I read about a girl when she was young, always asked her mom for money to get an ice cream cone. Her mom would always send her to her dad. He’d always give her the money and she was always one happy little girl. But what got programmed? That men were the ones who had money, and women didn’t. So, when she was older, she expected her husband to always have the money for her, which of course caused lots of problems. To help change, think about a specifc emotional incident around money when you were young. Write down how this incident may have affected you financially up to now. Realize that this way of being is only what you learned and is not really you or what you’re about. Know that you have a choice, now in the present, to be different. Then, beilieve you can be wealthy and successful.
I’ve just barely touched upon this subject, but I want you to be aware that it is real. It can make or break you. You need to dig deep and see what your true feelings about money and success are, and change them if you need to allow yourself to succeed. Along with the money blueprint, you need to deal with your correct mindset, procrastination, self-doubt and other areas that will always be fighting against you. However, the more you arm yourself with the weapons to fight each one, and make yourself aware, you’ll be that much more closer to success from the beginning, and can save yourself a whole lot of heartache along the way.
I hope I have shed some light on other things you need to learn and prepare for besides learning just your tools of the trade. As always, ask questions, correct me or add you thoughts. I welcome the connection!
Until next time…Take Action!
I also want to say, that I believe “being wealthy” is in the eye of the beholder. We all have different ideas of what “wealthy” would mean to us. So, I’m not referring to being a millionaire or having millions when I talk about being wealthy. You can fill in what your idea is of wealth as you read. Love you all.
