In today’s world, with companies downsizing, along with the popularity of stay at home moms and stay at home dads, more and more people are asking how to make money
online at home?
There are many ways, believe it or not, one can do this. Yes, and I mean legally. And over time, here on my website, I will be showing you different ways in an effort to help the average folk like me be able to do so. Today I am going to cover one of my favorite techniques. Affiliate marketing.
What is affiliate marketing you ask?
a marketing arrangement by which an online retailer pays a commission to an external website for traffic or sales generated from its referrals:
In other words, you have a website, people come to your website, they click on a link that you have placed on your website that sends them to something they want to buy. When they buy that item, you get paid a percentage of the sale from that company for sending that person to them that bought the product…….whew! Simple, huh? Yes and no.
The concept is simple. But, you have to build the website. You have to figure out how to get people to come to your website. You have to figure out what link you what to have on your website to make you money. Then you need to do it in a way that they will click on that link. But, as long as you take it slow, go one step at a time the procedure will stay just as simple as the concept.
Pick out your niche
You’ll have the best results if you build a firm foundation. And it will be the firmest if it’s something that you are passionate about. Something that makes you excited to talk about. Something you could go on and on about and never get tired of talking about it. And the good news is, there is not one single niche out there that you can’t make money from. No matter what you come up with, there are plenty of people out there looking for that exact thing. So, don’t be scared to move forward on this. Don’t dilly dally around worried that it might not be THE right niche. Worried that you’re wasting your time with the wrong idea. Poppycock! Just do it! There are plenty of articles out there on how to pick a niche. If you want to read more about choosing a niche, click here.
Build your website
Next, the fun part. You get to start building your website. Whoever your website host is, will have a number of “theme” templates for you to choose from. You’ve chosen your niche so you can let this be a guide of what you want the theme to be. You’ll want to find a host that will let you try it out for free, especially if you’re just starting out. That way you haven’t wasted any money on hosting or domain names. As, in niches, there are articles and blogs on building websites. If you would like to read more about who I use for my websites you can go here. They are on the up and up and have a free starter membership, so, you can‘t go wrong.
Choose your affiliate program
Now, you want to find one or more affiliate programs to send your customers to. Say, for instance, if your niche is birds, you may want to have a link to a store that sells birdhouses, or feeders. If your niche is cats, you may want a link to a store selling cat accessories. I’m sure you get the picture. A lot of folks make a good bit of income by having affiliate links to Amazon alone. They have thousands of products and are well known. Your product search would be endless there. With Amazon or any other affiliate program, if you want to sell their product you simply go to their website, and look for the heading “affiliates” and click there. Then follow the directions. You’ll sign up and they’ll give you the rules to go by and will check out your website to make sure it’s legit and is right for their product. You’ll be assigned a link that will have your very own code embedded in it so when anyone clicks on that link and goes to their store and buys, you get credit for the sell and paid a commission.
Okay, so now you have your website set up with your product and an affiliate program connected with it. Now for the most important part; Traffic. You can’t make money unless there are people looking at what you have to offer. And you need to constantly work on ways of driving this traffic to your website. The way I do it is by writing blogs on my website that are relevant to what I have to offer. They are blogs that will help people in the different areas they are looking for like the one you are reading now. Then somewhere in the blog or at the end I suggest for them to click on a link I provide to find out more information if interested. Then on that page, I’ll provide the affiliate program link for them to click on if they want to join.
Now, since I use blogs to attract traffic, there is a set formula to use. You use keywords in your blog that folks will search for when they Google something, or key phrases. That way, when they type in “make money from home” your website or blog or article will pop up on the search page. Of course, this is just a quick summary and there is a lot more involved.
